Athletes are expected to cover 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running. All three stages have to be covered within 17 hours.

The first complete Ironman, in the colorful Mexican Caribbean, took place on Cozumel Island in 2009, a place that has been established as the official headquarters of this brand, by organizing nine editions of the Ironman 70.3 and 10 of the complete Ironman.
The Ironman 70.3, also known as the Half Ironman, is one of the long-distance triathlon racing series. it has 1.2 mile (1.9 km) swim, 56 mile (90 km) bike ride, and 13.1 mile (21.1 km) run. all these distances are 70.3 miles (113 km), hence the name. Each distance in the swim, bike, and run is half the distance found in a full Ironman.
The Ironman 70.3 culminates each year with the World Championship, with the participation of athletes who have obtained the classification in the qualifying tests, during the months prior to the race.
