Ik Kil cenote is near the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, on the road to Valladolid, in the Yucatan Peninsula. It was considered by the Mayans as a sacred place where they practiced rituals to honor life, death and water. It is also the perfect habitat for a wide variety of wild birds, such as toucans, parrots, mockingbirds, cardinals, flycatchers, among many other species.
